Hi! I’m Erica!

Food & wellness lover, cooking enthusiast, and registered dietitian nutritionist. My mission is to help you reclaim health through cooking & personalized nutrition.

Why is this important to me?

For as long as I can remember, I have lived and breathed two things: good books & good food. (Yep, this was a childhood favorite.) What do these two things have in common? They feed the soul.

In today’s fast-paced society, it is so easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of life, and forget about the simple things. The slow things. The things that make us feel happy, whole, and vibrant. While many of these things are unique to each individual, wholesome food is a key component of health and vitality for everyone.

What happened to wholesome food?

Over the last few generations, the prepared-food industry has boomed, and cooking has become a lost art. Today we are disconnected from food and ingredients, and rely on food “products” and restaurants to feed us. We marvel at food on Pinterest and watch celebrity chefs prepare it on TV, but deep down inside, we don’t believe that we have the skills to do it ourselves.

But guess what? YOU DO! And I’ll show you how.

Reconnecting with food.

Whole foods are freaking amazing! They are truly nature’s medicine. What I love about food, is that there is no one right way of eating for everyone. I mean, look around the world! Each culture thrives on its own unique blend of foods and ingredients. It’s all about tuning in and listening to your body to determine which foods make you feel fab, and which ones make you feel drab.

Once you realize there is no need to “diet”, and that your body can lead the way, it’s like a HUGE weight is lifted and you can start to get playful with your food. You really can’t go wrong with fresh fruits, veggies, herbs, spices, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and high quality meats and dairy. It’s the processed, nutrient-stripped “foods” that populate most of the grocery store that are the real problem.

Just listen to your body, and it will tell you what it needs! Do you get an upset stomach after eating wheat? Earaches or acne after eating dairy? Fatigue after eating sugar? Overwhelming energy after downing a smoothie? These are all clues you can use to start building an eating pattern that works for you.

The power of cooking.

If you’re new to the cooking arena, I get it. Unfamiliar foods can seem intimidating at first! (kabocha squash?? chia seeds?? beet greens??) But with my help, you’ll soon be cooking wholesome, delicious meals for you and your family, and feeling FABULOUS as a result.

Why is cooking so great? Cooking is grounding. It forces you to be in the present moment, fully aware of the smells, sensations, and processes involved in food preparation. It is during these meditative moments that the body starts to relax, release tons of feel-good chemicals, and prepare itself for a nourishing meal.

By giving yourself this time each day, you are doing several things: Taking back your independence and the ability to feed yourself food that is free of chemicals, pesticides, and scary additives, & proclaiming that you (body, mind, and soul) are worth it. I’ll say it again. You are worth it!

You are worth the time it takes to shop for groceries each week. You are worth the extra money it takes to buy organic and local items. You are worth the effort it takes to prepare real, nourishing food at home. You are worthy of feeling your best. Cooking is worth it.
